He has occupied various esteemed positions in medical institutions and expanded the research in his field through the publication of academic papers. Amoozgar’s Academic Background
Amoozgar’s distinguished career is grounded in his strong academic foundation. In 2012, he earned a Doctor of Medicine from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, one of Asia’s leading medical institutions, located in Tehran, Iran.
He continued to build upon his knowledge by obtaining a Master of Public Health in medicine from the University of California, Berkeley in 2021. That same year, he completed a residency at JFK University Medical Center.
Amoozgar’s Career as a Clinician-Scientist
Amoozgar began his medical career as an observer-researcher and ophthalmic technician at the University of Toronto from 2013 to 2015. During this time, he additionally worked as an educational observer at Sunnybrook Health Sciences.
In 2016, Amoozgar completed an externship at the University of California, San Francisco. He further honed his clinical skills through a sub-internship at Medical City Plano Hospital in 2017. From 2015 to 2018, he held multiple roles at the University of California, San Francisco, including postdoctoral research fellow, clinical research coordinator, and assistant specialist. In 2018, he began his residency training as a resident physician at RBMC/JFK University Medical Center. From 2021 to 2023, he served as a faculty member and Instructor of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
In 2023, Amoozgar obtained the role of clinical fellow specializing in hematology-oncology at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. He continues to work in this position today, where his expertise is utilized in bone marrow and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.
Amoozgar’s Research Contributions
At the John Theurer Cancer Center, Amoozgar and his colleagues work tirelessly to develop techniques for combating cancer and improving the prognosis for patients. “We are constantly working on contributing to innovations and advancements to therapies, including cellular therapies and immunotherapies, to improve the lifespan of people with incurable cancer,” he states.

In addition to his clinical work, Amoozgar has contributed to his field through the publication of academic articles and research papers. His scholarly output includes 30 peer-reviewed publications and 15 abstracts. Since 2017, he has also served as an invited reviewer for the Journal of Medicine, BMC, and PLOS One.

In addition, he credits his mother, whose career has served as an inspiration for his own. “She was also a leader and a very good radiologist and an academic faculty member in our country,” he said.
Moving forward, Amoozgar aims to continue leading as a clinician-scientist. He would like to transition into working in academia, where he will focus on advancing cellular therapy while conducting high-quality research.
Amoozgar’s long-term goals include improving patient access to healthcare, particularly in bone marrow transplant therapy. In all his aspirations, his work will continue to make a profound impact through improving the quality and longevity of the lives of cancer patients, giving them more years to cherish.
