From Typewriters to Advancing Technology
With his journey into technology beginning at a young age, at 15, Spatola was already proficient in typewriter repair. He learned this skill from his father, who founded Computer Solutions in 1977 as a typewriter repair business. With a wealth of knowledge and prowess, Spatola’s father passed on his expertise to Spatola and his younger brothers.
A pivotal moment for Computer Solutions was its significant contract with Princeton University, which led Spatola to service typewriters on campus. As technology continued to advance, he pursued an education in electronics and shifted the business focus to computers.
Since 1983, Spatola has owned Computer Solutions. Under his astute leadership, the company has evolved from a typewriter repair store to a comprehensive IT solutions provider, highlighting his adaptability to advancing technology. This evolution included expanding to a small shop in Princeton, New Jersey, and gradually establishing its own data center in 1995. Computer Solutions also offers website development services and hosting software.
Spatola has remained dedicated to learning more about his field and teaching himself programming. He has consistently kept up with advancing technologies, which has helped him effectively serve his customers. He has also developed custom applications that are still used today. With a pursuit to continually strengthen his expertise and capabilities, Spatola has dedicated his life to problem-solving and offering valuable services to others.
As the owner and technical lead at Computer Solutions, Spatola’s responsibilities include hiring staff, managing a team of over 15 employees, working directly with customers, and educating employees about new technologies.
Spatola attributes his success to his expertise in tinkering with machines, which is complemented by a genuine passion for assisting people rather than simply profiting from them. He deeply values his customers, and his commitment is reflected in his strong relationships with them. He keeps them informed about his latest projects, concerts, and places he has visited.
Beyond Professional Passions
Besides his professional achievements, Spatola is actively involved in philanthropic organizations, such as Doctors Without Borders. He is also a donor and active with Spread Bees Around the World, where he spends his free time beekeeping. Spatola’s additional creative pursuits include being a musician and a disc jockey at City Gardens in Trenton, New Jersey.
With over 40 years in his field, Spatola is a respected figure in the industry and the community. Rather than retire, he is actively seeking to grow his business. Beyond supporting existing customers, the company has developed expertise in the software and hardware used by over 300 veterinary hospitals.
