Linda S. Helmer, a recent Marquis Who’s Who honoree and senior state and local government specialist, has dedicated more than 25 years to government contracts and client relations. Known for her professional problem-solving skills, she has built a reputation for delivering reliable results.
From Customer Service Specialist to Strategic Leader
Helmer began her career as a customer service manager and specialist at Standley Systems. In this role, she learned to navigate client needs and began to build the service management skills that would eventually become the foundation for her leadership style. By the end of her first year, her strategic thinking and leadership qualities earned her a promotion to director of state and government.
As director of state and government, Helmer managed government contracts, solicited business from state and local agencies, and expanded Standley Systems’ reach across Oklahoma. She grew the company’s government business from $200,000 annually to $4.7 million, achieving this growth by building lasting client relationships and managing complex contracts.
Dedication Drives Expertise
Helmer has contributed to her company’s success in the document management industry, specializing in helping clients transition to paperless systems and adopt future-focused cloud-based solutions. “As a document management specialist, I know that the whole world is trying to get rid of paper,” says Helmer. “It’s about being paperless but not being tied to the office. The whole world is trying to figure that out right now.”
This shift comes with significant challenges, and Helmer has seen many organizations need assistance with implementation. Her ability to guide clients through this process has established her reputation as a trustworthy partner and government contracting expert. She credits her success to her diligent work ethic and client-centric philosophy. “I tend to try to look at it from their perspectives,” says Helmer, noting that even where the view of a situation differs, mutual respect and creative problem-solving can bring about a best-case scenario.
Personal Development and Lasting Impact
Helmer has enhanced her career by earning certifications that broaden her knowledge and skills. She plans to pursue expertise in emerging technologies, which present new opportunities and challenges for her industry. Despite her busy professional life, Helmer volunteers with Icing Smiles, a nonprofit that provides custom cakes to critically ill children on their birthdays. This aligns with her commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around her.
Helmer’s strong reputation in her field has gained her well-earned recognition. She continues to be a driving force in her profession and her community.
