While starting Ario Health, Nielson took on the impactful role of strategic advisor at Karlsgate Inc., based on his experience with the firm. Before this, he excelled as senior vice president of business development, where he built their commercial program. He developed the sales team, partnerships team, and marketing team to drive commercial success.
In the high-impact position, his responsibilities encompassed managing the sales pipeline, overseeing lucrative sales deals, serving as a thought leader, and aligning product strategies. Beyond his crucial role at Karlsgate Inc., he has continued to lend his expertise as an adviser at Echelon Technology Advisors, a company he co-founded, since 2022.
About Nielson
Nielson’s academic background has been instrumental in his success. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus in premedical studies and honors studies from the University of Utah and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School. Believing that one should never stop learning, he credits his success to his constant pursuit of new knowledge and his upbringing, which instilled in him the ability to turn challenging situations into learning opportunities.
Nielson began his career in life sciences as a medical researcher and microsurgeon, where his work was published multiple times. He leveraged that into creating a new business developing and selling research technologies. This shift led him to work closely with life sciences manufacturers, specifically in medical data and research analytics. His professional experience at IBM stands out, where he held multiple roles as a consultant from 2005 to 2011. Here, he developed and refined his leadership in technology for life sciences companies to drive innovation and change.
Nielson’s impressive professional journey includes a range of dynamic roles at Veeva Systems from 2011 until 2018, where he ultimately grew to a general manager and market owner after serving multiple roles in the organization. Here, he led the development, launch, and sales of numerous commercial products.
One of his standout achievements was developing the extensive global services program for Veeva Vault. This ambitious project required identifying global candidates to design and implement a software solution that had never been implemented before. With substantial investment of time and effort, developing new interview models and new ways to form a high-functioning team.
Despite the challenges, it was a resounding success, creating a highly respected, knowledgeable, and profitable department. The triumphs of his initiatives underscore his exceptional leadership skills, deep expertise, and remarkable ability to navigate and manage complex projects under pressure.

He is also active in civic-minded organizations, such as the local Medical Technology Advisory Group, and served as a fundraising consultant and medical assistant for the H.A.R.T. Foundation.
