Recognized by Marquis Who’s Who, Victor Garayar brings two decades of international experience in customer success, professional services, product management, consulting, and sales. He is widely regarded as an expert in business growth strategy and program leadership, currently serving as director of AI delivery at SoundHound AI, following its acquisition of Amelia.

As a leader in conversational AI and digital transformation, Garayar has built his career on a strong academic foundation. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science and systems engineering from Universidad de San Martín de Porres in Peru in 2004, followed by a diploma in Project Management from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas in 2007. In 2016, he completed an MBA at the prestigious IMD Business School in Switzerland. Committed to continuous learning, Garayar is currently enrolled in MIT’s AI for Senior Managers Program, expanding his expertise in applying AI across industries and enterprise solutions.

Establishing a Career

Garayar’s career spans a broad spectrum of leadership roles, all of which have honed his deep expertise in AI and business transformation. His first decade was spent in IT consulting, where he held positions including SAP ABAP consultant, supply chain consultant, solution owner, project manager, and, ultimately, consulting manager. He has contributed to transformation projects across Latin America in industries such as retail, consumer goods, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and utilities.

In 2015, Garayar became corporate chief information officer for Gandules Group, one of Peru’s largest agribusiness companies. A pivotal moment in his career came in 2016 during his MBA studies, when he led an international consulting project for a German premium automotive manufacturer. There, he designed a digital strategy leveraging AI to analyze customer behavior, marking his entry into the field of AI-driven innovation.

In 2017, he joined Amelia as cognitive engagement manager for Southern Europe and Latin America. In this role, he laid the groundwork for the company’s AI delivery infrastructure in both regions. His success led to a promotion in 2019 to head of cognitive systems delivery, where he oversaw complex implementation projects and led the professional services, customer success, and voice global competence teams. His leadership significantly elevated the region’s strategic importance and advanced the Amelia Contact Center AI product.

Since 2022, Garayar has served as director of AI delivery, continuing to deliver high-impact conversational AI solutions to Tier 1 enterprises. Following Amelia’s acquisition by SoundHound AI in August 2024, he has remained at the forefront of integrating AI technologies, contributing to measurable ROI and expanding business opportunities for global clients.

Professional Achievement and Moving Forward

Garayar has been instrumental in securing and developing three tier-one, multibillion-dollar accounts in telecommunications, banking, retail, and insurance, establishing them among Amelia’s top five global clients. Beyond his corporate accomplishments, he is an advocate for diversity in tech. He has served as a mentor for the Technovation Challenge, empowering young women to explore careers in technology and entrepreneurship, and is an active member of the LatinX Group.

He attributes his success to the trust of his clients, the support of his teams, and the unwavering encouragement of his wife, whose belief in his vision continues to inspire his journey.

Looking ahead, Garayar hopes to further his work in the technology field, aiming to lead a technology venture with innovation and spontaneity while championing the responsible integration of AI. With his dedication to ethical technology development continuing to shape his inspiring vision for the future, Garayar hopes to foster a future where technology can be used effectively and ethically.
