Nicole Ungaro is the owner of Ungaro Consulting, which she founded in 2016. The firm works with various companies across the United States and has additionally worked with several large multinational corporations. Ungaro has more than 25 years of experience in the industry and utilizes her knowledge and expertise in service to her clients.
An Outstanding Executive
Ungaro Consulting is described by Ungaro as an advisory practice that assists companies with their compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. This process includes evaluation and preparation to comply with the 2002 federal law, which was passed to protect both investors and the public from accounting fraud. Ungaro Consulting ensures the accuracy of its clients’ financial reporting and offers other services, including information technology general controls review and operational audits.
Ungaro has extensive international audit expertise and has overseen the internal audits of several large multinational corporations in the Netherlands, China, and India. She is proficient with business systems such as SAP and Oracle, as well as cloud-based applications. She consistently works with a team of talented and dedicated employees, as well as trusted consultants.
Ungaro also has served as the president of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Orange County Chapter, an organization she has been a member of since 2012. She previously held the positions of treasurer and vice president of programs.
As a self-described go-getter, Ungaro attributes her success to her stubbornness and attention to detail. She also holds herself and her team to a high ethical standard and sincerely believes in doing the right thing.
Ungaro received the Outstanding Executive Award from Advancing Women in Technology in 2019 and was recently honored by Marquis Who’s Who for her excellence in consulting.
Mentoring Others
Inspired by not having a mentor while attending college, Ungaro dedicates much of her free time to mentoring students. She speaks at colleges about internal audit courses, offering additional support and answering questions.
Relying on her extensive network, Ungaro enjoys helping students find internship and employment opportunities. She believes these opportunities are essential to gaining valuable experience and determining the right career path. She has firsthand experience with this, as she originally considered a career in law, but after working in the field, she realized it was not the right career for her.
A New Charitable Foundation
Taking inspiration from her new role as a trustee at Olive Crest, a child abuse prevention nonprofit, Ungaro plans to replicate her success with Ungaro Consulting in establishing a new charitable foundation, Pop-pins. The focus of the foundation will be on assisting children in need, a topic close to her heart.
“The organization is being created to help children — to give them that one missing piece. We want to be that missing link and pop the worry bubbles of as many children as we can,” Ungaro said.
Currently, Ungaro is presenting her idea to potential partners and creating a team that will help her take on the challenging task of establishing the foundation.
“I can’t imagine kids being hungry. It just kills me. My heart bleeds for all of humanity, but my soul cannot take a child suffering. That’s just what it is — to give comfort to children and make sure that there is a safe place for them in the world,” Ungaro said.
