Passionate about education, teaching, and learning, Duc T. Haba has dedicated more than 35 years to the fields of technology and artificial intelligence (AI). Haba brings his expertise to the New GenAI Incubator, which focuses on AI for good, serving as the chief AI officer, author, and speaker.
Haba specializes in advising executives on responsible AI and its evolving landscape. In his role at the New GenAI Incubator, he focuses on helping startups accelerate and go to market in three months. He teaches the ELVTR class on AI Solution Architecture for executives, directors, business consultants, and data scientists, educating them on the intricacies of developing and managing a machine learning (ML) project. He believes the ability to unlearn previously held skills is instrumental to acquiring new ones.
The Foundation to Professional Success
Haba’s successful career was built on the foundation of his educational achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in computer science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). He then completed coursework for a Master of Computer Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York. In addition to his academic background, he is an active member of several influential industry-related organizations, including Citizen Schools and UNO Alumni Chapters.
Haba’s career began in 1986 at Xerox, first as a programmer for Xerox Corp. and then as a researcher at Xerox PARC. In 1995, he moved on to work at Oracle, where he served as a senior principal consultant. During his tenure between RRKidz and Cognizant, he co-founded several mobile and AI startups, where he served as the chief technologist, a role he held until 2019.
Haba, the chief AI officer at New GenAI Incubator, leads an organization dedicated to accelerating startups focused on AI for good. Over a rigorous three-month program, selected startups receive funding, strategic guidance, and technical mentorship to fast-track development, culminating in an investors’ demo day. The incubator emphasizes socially impactful AI projects, such as AI-driven educational platforms that provide personalized learning experiences for underserved communities or natural disaster prediction systems that optimize evacuation routes and resource distribution during emergencies. By championing these innovations, the New GenAI Incubator is shaping AI as a transformative force for positive change.
Writing Ventures
As a prolific AI developer, Haba has published numerous articles about AI and generative AI. In 2023, he wrote and published “Data Augmentation with Python: Enhance Deep Learning Accuracy with Data Augmentation Methods for Image, Text, Audio, and Tabular Data,” which became an Amazon bestseller. The book was published through Packt Publishing Ltd. He has also co-written a new book released in early 2025 by BPB Online Publishing, “Python Simplified with Generative AI,” which focuses on using GenAI in education.
Career Highlights and Success
While Haba’s professional career is filled with highlights, he is most proud of his work in educating young people on the expanding possibilities of using GenAI for good, imparting his knowledge of the ethics and responsibilities that must be considered. In addition to this achievement, he is proud of his 2015 patent for a method and system for embedding and displaying social media feeds in video format and serving as a founding member of the startup internet consulting business Viant Inc., which submitted an initial public offering in 1999.
Crediting his success to his family, who kept him grounded and provided him with the strength to push forward, Haba has moved through his professional career without fear of trying new things or failing. He is grateful that his family remains a significant part of his life and showed appreciation by dedicating his first book to his father and the second to his mom.
Haba is ready to contribute more to the field of AI, going beyond speaking about it and doing something more tangible. He is starting a New GenAI Incubator with four colleagues to help companies and startups looking to use AI for good.
