Noted as a distinguished figure in elementary education, Laurel Anne Morton has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. Morton is fueled by her lifelong passion for teaching, which is evident from her childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio. From a young student who frequently assisted teachers with classroom projects to making significant contributions to the field of education, her expertise and dedication are highlighted by this honor.

Morton’s career path was not straightforward. First, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from California State University Stanislaus and then started her career in the financial sector. This career path did not resonate with her, leading her to return to southern California with a refreshed determination to follow her dream of teaching.

Morton furthered her higher education journey, receiving a teaching credential to work within the public school sector in 1986. She went on to earn a Master of Arts from California State Polytechnic University Pomona in 1992.

Decades in the Classroom

Morton’s journey in education began in 1986 when she served as an educator at Ontario-Montclair School District until 2000. That same year, she transitioned to serve as an educator within the Arcadia Unified School District (AUSD) in Arcadia, California, where she dedicated herself for more than two decades before retiring in 2021.

Morton’s distinguished career is marked by an exemplary tenure of 35 years in education. During this time, she has been acknowledged as an expert in elementary education and celebrated for her profound impact on young minds. She is recognized for her strengths in fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment that helped lead to success.

Passions Beyond the Classroom

Beyond her passion for assisting students in reaching academic and personal achievement, Morton has been actively involved in community service as a public relations board member with Las Alas, an auxiliary of the Assistance League of Arcadia. She helps run a thrift shop, with all proceeds donated to Operation School Bell, which helps supply students in the San Gabriel Valley with clothing, backpacks, books, and other necessities.

Morton also volunteers with The Guild and recently organized a food drive at her church. Looking to the future, she wants to dedicate more of her retirement time to volunteerism and various hobbies, hoping to be remembered for her educational legacy and her positive impact.

Morton’s success in the classroom has been widely recognized, which she credits to her family. She was recognized by the Longley Way Elementary School in Arcadia, California, with a Profiles in Excellence Award in 2004. Morton also received the Rotary Club of Arcadia’s Teacher of the Month Award in 2013. She remains committed to serving others in her community.
