For Christopher J. Knollmeyer, hard work, honesty, and integrity are the keys to success in his construction career. He knows the importance of treating others how you would like to be treated, something he does with his clients and his employees.
“My parents taught me the importance of hard work, honesty and integrity. I took those three things and applied them to the construction industry. Treat people the way you want to be treated and be honest with them. I take good care of my employees, and they are very thankful. It’s like a family atmosphere here, which is really nice. It’s fun to come to work,” Knollmeyer says.
From Contractor to Business Owner
Knollmeyer’s journey in construction began in his youth when he worked with a local contractor during high school. This early exposure ignited his passion for the industry, leading him to work as a structural engineer for three years and then as a large contractor for another five years.
Knollmeyer has dedicated more than 45 years to the construction industry, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the field. In 1991, he founded Knollmeyer Building Corporation, marking the start of his entrepreneurial career. He also served as the president of the corporation since the company was founded.
Since 2001, Knollmeyer has also been president of Greylock Roofing Co. Inc., a roofing company based in North Andover, Massachusetts. His extensive experience and leadership have significantly contributed to the success and growth of both companies.
Greylock Roofing Co. Inc. is now led by Knollmeyer’s daughter, something he is very proud of. The company’s success and recognition exemplify the dedication of its outstanding staff and the positive feedback from valued customers.
A Commitment to Others

These efforts reflect his passion for giving back to the community and supporting those in need.
Knollmeyer’s commitment to honesty, fairness, and a service-oriented approach stems from invaluable lessons imparted by his father. He firmly believes that one’s reputation is paramount and has instilled this principle in his employees. This ethos has guided his professional endeavors and earned him the Person of the Year Award in 2023 from Project Hope.
Eager for the future, Knollmeyer anticipates continuing his fulfilling work for a few more years before retiring. As he reflects on his journey from working on so many monumental projects to leading two successful companies today, he genuinely appreciates his opportunities and looks forward to continued success and building a legacy of hard work and perseverance.
