Launching a successful business is not easy, but keeping a thriving company over the year is just as difficult. After years in the business, most entrepreneurs will eventually hit a wall. But according to Shani Lechan, the owner of Shani Wigs, a company selling high-quality wigs, there are ways to avoid this.

Shani believes that success can be perpetuated through time by following these five tips.

When in doubt, don’t be afraid to consult experts

Entrepreneurs often stress the importance of learning how to delegate certain tasks to scale up their business. Shani believes that this is not enough. According to her, at times it is also fundamental to contact professionals for a consultation. For instance, whenever a big financial decision needs to be taken, Shani suggests talking to an expert to avoid false steps. “From a business perspective it’s important that any big financial decision is thought through and that you consult professionals,” said Shani. By contacting a financial expert you will avoid making huge mistakes that may suddenly destroy your business. According to Shani, this will not only help you avoid unnecessary stress but also drastically increase the longevity of your business.

Always stay ahead of the game

Another fundamental step is to make sure your business is constantly ahead of the game. It doesn’t matter what your product or service is, to succeed as an entrepreneur you need to always be aware of the latest trends and changes in the market. Once you acknowledge these, you need to be quick and adapt your business model to ensure that your product will always be at the very top. According to Shani, being a business owner means “constantly reevaluating and innovating to ensure your brand stays ahead of the game and that you are offering the best service possible.” Shani believes this is the only way to keep riding the momentum wave and avoid stagnant periods.

Keep broadening your demographic

After years of working on your brand, you may start to believe that you finally have enough clients to stop looking for new opportunities. This is a common mistake that will always backfire. Remember, you’re not a fortune teller and don’t have the power to predict the future of your brand. You don’t know whether tomorrow one or more of your lifelong clients will suddenly stop purchasing your product. This is why it is always better to be safe than sorry.

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been in the business for a few weeks or decades, Shani suggests never stop broadening your demographic. While at the beginning of her entrepreneurial journey, Shani mainly targeted her product towards the orthodox Jewish community, in recent years she has expanded her business to women fighting against cancer. But how can you expand your circle?

According to Shani, one of the most effective ways is to collaborate with people working in your industry and keep focusing on your network.

Value authenticity and passion

Authenticity and passion are fundamental for keeping your consistency throughout the years. “Achieving the success I have requires having a genuine belief and interest in what you do and the product you are selling,” said Shani. When launching a business, it is natural to feel excited about your entrepreneurial journey. However, after years of working on the same product, it is easy to lose interest and engagement.

The key to success is to focus your brand on something you are truly passionate about. In this way, you will make sure to maintain the same consistency through time. Shani also believes that passion for your job is fundamental as it is often reflected in the quality of your products: “Being authentic with who you are and what you are doing reflects in the level of quality of your work. Passion and interest in your job are also necessary for your client to feel they are in good hands and will be listened to and taken care of,” said Shani.

Never compromise on quality

Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of compromising on the quality of their service to lower the prices. This is often done to beat the competition but it’s a false step. Despite being a common technique, according to Shani, this is a huge mistake. Lowering your prices will only result in your competition doing the same, causing an endless race to the bottom. In addition to this, by compromising on the quality of your products you will irreparably damage the image of your brand in the eyes of your clients. “Upholding a standard is so important in building trust and credibility with my clients and my brand,” said Shani. Do your best to keep improving the quality of your service and do not be afraid to change your prices. People will always be willing to pay for the best quality.
