DECKED, maker of storage kits designed to fit the beds of most brands of large pickup trucks, has announced the acquisition of CargoGlide, a competing maker of sliding bed platforms for truck beds and cargo vans.

“We are very excited to bring CargoGlide into the DECKED family,” said DECKED GM, Jake Peters. “It’s a natural acquisition as its ergonomic focus is a great complement to DECKED. We believe that by adding DECKED’s manufacturing, engineering, and design knowledge, as well as marketing and sales infrastructure, we can take CargoGlide to the next level.”

Both companies are prominent in what is broadly known as the truck racks market. Demand for truck racks is growing steadily as sales of pickup trucks and cargo vans grows worldwide, according to a recent report by Global Market Instights. DECKED said the CargoGlide line will be fully integrated with its Drawer System and Tool Box  products to create “a comprehensive portfolio of innovative truck bed accessory solutions, well-positioned to meet a variety of customer needs across this growing market.”

DECKED systems start at $1,499, and some CargoGlide systems cost even more. The market for these are not those exquisitely detailed pickup trucks you see picking up the kids at school in the suburbs.

“Our customer is anybody who owns a pickup truck that isn’t just a car,” said Greg Randolph, VP of Marketing for DECKED. “They might be tradesmen, or maybe they fish or hunt or camp on the weekend, but they own a pickup truck because they are hauling stuff. It’s not just groceries.”

DECKED, which shipped its first product in 2013, manufactures at its facility in Defiance, Ohio. CargoGlide will continue manufacturing and distribution from its facility in St. George, UT. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
