Welcome back to Show and Tell, where I unbox sweet tech for every area of your life. In this episode, let’s unearth the Hamama Grow Kit, a sustainable and easy way to grow microgreens indoors. Many of us resort to buying our greens at the market, but this can get expensive. You may try to grow your own food but green thumbs don’t come easily. Being a plant parent is challenging; different foods need specific amounts of light, types of soil and time to grow. The Hamama Grow Kit is a simple and nutritious solution, even for the “notorious plant killer.”

Growing tiny superfood

The Hamama Grow Kit is for growing microgreens, which are essentially baby-aged plants. So, if you like kale, before becoming an adult kale leaf, it would be considered a microgreen in its first week of sprouting. Why would you want to grow microgreens? These superfoods are 40 times denser in nutrients than the adult version. They’re perfect to throw onto a salad, sandwich, or add on top of any dish as a garnish. Besides keeping you healthy, they are also simple to grow. They don’t need a lot of light, even your ceiling light will be enough, and will be done growing in 4-6 days. So, you don’t have to worry about fertilizing, repotting, or pruning. And finally, these greens give you peace of mind. They are non-GMO seeds that don’t use soil, pesticides or fertilizers.

How it works

When your Hamama kit shows up on your doorstep, you’ll find a starter kit with three quilts. The little quilts have seeds inside of them. Put the quilt into the tray with water up to the fill line. Submerge it for 10 seconds, and then leave it. After the allotted time, eat your greens, compost the sustainable quilt and get ready to “plant” another seed quilt. The kit comes in a monthly delivery, where you get three seed quilts. And you get to customize your seeds every month online, choosing from 36 quilts. Cancel or skip your monthly delivery at any time. You’ll be a plant parent in no time! Hamama offers a beautiful bamboo frame to make the planter a natural addition to the home. In addition, they offer a ceramic tray alternative to the plastic one for those who want an even more natural growing setup.

I will be back soon to unbox more tech, but until then, check out my previous episodes here.
