From Nebraska to Nashville, country music artist Lucas Hoge has shown the evolution of his performance of Christian music, fronting brands like Southern Cross and Xtreme Devotion, to country rock, showing reverence for “The Power of Garth” on his 2017 album, Dirty South.
Today, the up-and-coming artist released his latest single, “Workin’ On Me,” co-written with Kyle Rife and Jason Mizelle. The track deconstructs the feeling of falling in love. Just the type of music us millennials need in our life—and Hoge is the one to humanize and bring that to life.
“‘Workin’ on Me’ is one of those songs that is full of visuals,” Hoge says. “When we were writing it you couldn’t help yourself getting transported right into that old smoke-filled bar with a neon sign.”
Last month, Hoge released his music video for “That’ll Be the Day,” showing a sensitive side of the singer-songwriter, who only emphasizes that getting married truly changes everything. His video is meant to offer visual proof for the skeptical romantic.
Some people are just born communicators and Lucas Hoge has that gift. Fans know this because Hoge’s new album Dirty South ascended to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country Album Sales chart during its debut week.
