On Wednesday, Mattel announced the release of a brand new line of dolls that makes doll-play accessible to all children, regardless of gender identity.
According to a news release by the company, Creatable World™ dolls offer “a customizable doll-line offering endless combinations all in one box.”
Creatable World™ invites kids to create their own characters, which includes extensive wardrobe options, accessories and wigs which allow kids to style the doll with short or long hair, or in a skirt, pants, or both.

“Through research, we heard that kids don’t want their toys dictated by gender norms. This line allows all kids to express themselves freely which is why it resonates so strongly with them. We spoke with Valerie Vacante, gaming expert and founder of Collabsco and co-founder of TechUp, about Mattel’s latest announcement.
