How Sharon McEntee Transformed Her Frustration Into a Successful Business

Updated on August 20, 2024

For many years, Sharon McEntee was frustrated with the limited options for safe and effective skincare products on the market. Many of the existing offerings were expensive yet failed to meet the standards she deemed essential.

Determined to change this, McEntee used her training at the Catherine Hinds Institute and her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences to launch her own medical-grade skincare line, PHI Skincare. Since 2021, PHI Skincare has grown to include 13 products available both in-office and online, generating an annual revenue of $55K.

“The name PHI was chosen because it represents the Greek letter used for millennia to define perfect proportions, symbolizing the golden ratio of beauty,” McEntee explains.

With 27 years of experience, McEntee has established herself as a leading clinical aesthetician, working in renowned medical spas and dermatology practices across Florida and New England.

The Birth of PHI Skincare: A Mission to Revolutionize Beauty

“PHI Skincare was born out of my commitment to offering clients high-quality, effective solutions they can trust,” says McEntee. “With nearly three decades of experience as a licensed medical aesthetician and my expertise from creating a skincare line for a dermatology practice in 2002, I knew exactly what I wanted in my products—and just as importantly, what I didn’t want.”

Having somewhat reactive skin herself, McEntee’s vision for PHI was clear: to develop products with high levels of active ingredients like vitamin C and retinol, which would be universally tolerated and deliver consistent, high-quality results.

“At PHI Skincare, our mission is to provide safe, uncompromisingly high-quality medical-grade skincare products,” McEntee asserts. “We are committed to delivering results-driven solutions that empower our clients to invest in their skin’s health and beauty with confidence.”

Empowering Skincare Through Experience and Innovation

PHI Skincare quickly gained traction, and though the brand is still in its early stages, it was nominated for an AMSPA Professional Choice Award.

McEntee’s expertise and commitment extend beyond her skincare line. She is also the owner of Embody MedSpa, which has been voted Best MedSpa every year since it opened in 2013. “We are a Top Ranked Provider of multiple treatments offered at Embody, including Morpheus8, Lumecca IPL, Botox, and Juvederm Filler,” says McEntee.

In addition to her work with Embody MedSpa, McEntee has been nominated for the Boston Business Women Award and Best of North Shore Award. She also mentors other medspa owners and practitioners, guiding them through the complexities of the industry. As a chapter leader for the Women’s Business League, she supports and empowers fellow female entrepreneurs.

On her podcast, “Hustle & Harmony: Finding Balance in the Chaos,” McEntee shares her insights on balancing the demands of entrepreneurship with personal life, offering guidance to those seeking to find harmony in their own lives.

The Future of Skincare with McEntee

With a deep passion for health and beauty, McEntee has dedicated her career to treating clients of all ages, skin types, and conditions, consistently striving to deliver the best possible skincare outcomes. “Our PHI skincare system is perfectly defined as such – each product provides a perfect formula and proportion to make this system a healthy cohesive whole that brings your skin everything that it needs. This rings true for all skin types, including acne-prone and sensitive skin types,” says McEntee.

Her impact on the skincare industry is undeniable. Her dedication to delivering safe, effective, and high-quality products is at the core of her mission. As PHI Skincare continues to grow, it’s clear that her experience, passion, and innovative spirit will keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of skincare.

As per reports, the global skincare market size was valued at USD 109.71 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow from USD 115.65 billion in 2024 to USD 194.05 billion by 2032.
